The amount of time it took to form the government was unusual, especially considering that the government parties – The Independence Party, the Progressive Party and the Left-Green Movement – strengthened their majority in parliament.
The main reason was doubts about results from the North-West constituency that lasted weeks because the votes had not been properly sealed. Although there was no indication of vote tampering, this had to be investigated.
