Children in poverty should also enjoy leisure activities

Key to the Benefit Commission's proposal is that families on cash benefits should be able to afford to have their children participate in leisure and club activities just like their peers.

The Benefit Commission

Established by the Danish government in 2019 to simplify the cash benefit system. It provides economic support to help people move into training or work. The cash benefit system is a basic social safety net.

There are nearly 60,000 poor children in Denmark. Statistics Denmark defines poverty as earning less than half of the median wage.
