Nordic youth on what is needed to give them faith in the future

Many young people in the Nordics have a dim view of the future. Some struggle with mental health, remain outside education and work, and many worry a lot about their own generation. The Nordic Labour Journal has asked what they think is needed to create a brighter future.

These are the questions the Nordic Labour Journal posed:
  1. Surveys show young people are concerned about increased prices, war and the climate. An increasing number worry that their generation will be worse off than the previous one. How worried should we be about the results of such surveys? What does this do to young people’s hopes for the future?
  2. One Nordic study shows that many young people in the Nordics show symptoms of anxiety, depression and social anxiety. What is the main reason for this do you think? What is needed to turn the negative development around?
  3. In all of the Nordic countries, relatively large groups of young people do not study or work. What measures could help young people back to school and into the labour market?
  4. How can the Nordic cooperation help solve the challenges young people struggle with?
