There have been many surveys, analyses and assessments about the situation for transport and infrastructure in the Öresund region. Here are some of the arguments for why another permanent link would be wise: 

• The Fehmarn Bält connection between Denmark and Germany opens in the summer of 2029, with an expected increase in traffic across the Öresund bridge.
• The Öresund region has the largest concentration of people in the whole of the Nordic region with 4.2 million citizens. Both Copenhagen and Malmö have population growth.
• Commuting across the Öresund bridge takes too long. 82,000 people cross the bridge every day in addition to 3,700 goods vehicles.
• If the Öresund bridge were to be complemented with one or several tunnel links, it would mean better security in the case of a war – a consideration that has become more pertinent after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
