Adopted by the EU’s 28 employment ministers after prolonged negotiations. Aimed at securing a more social Europe, and contains policies and rights for the labour markets and the social systems in the EU.
The political preamble says “The European Pillar of Social Rights should be implemented at both Union level and Member State level within their respective competences, taking due account of different socio-economic environments and the diversity of national systems, including the role of social partners, and in accordance with the principles of subsidiarity and proportionality.”
