Norway launches initiative against work-related crime during EU summit

Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg seized the moment at the EU summit on social rights. She launched an offensive against work-related crime. Norway offers to work with an EU country to develop a more efficient control system.

Ten measures against work-related crime
  1. Develop a joint European strategy to fight work-related crime
  2. Develop a guide for cross-border sharing of information between public agencies;
  3. There will be a Nordic project where labour market authorities cooperate. Baltic countries will be invited.
  4. Norway will make itself available for a pilot project together with another European country in which participants from different public authorities in both countries will participate in operative cooperation.
  5. To prevent work-related crime, there is a need for common information measures
  6. There is a need to strengthen the opportunities for verifying information on service providers from other countries
  7. There is a need to clarify which national voluntary schemes that make the qualifications and responsibility of enterprises visible are allowable within the framework the Service Directive.
  8. ID cards in order to fight work-related crime.
  9. European cooperation for better compliance in road transport should be strengthened.
  10. The implementation of measures to enhance the traceability of certain forms of electronic payment services should be considered.
