One of the problems Swedes who have worked in Norway most often complain about is set to disappear, according to Sweden's Minister for Employment Hillevi Engström. She visited Oslo on 27 April and raised the issue of Norwegian authorities' slow process of providing people with proof that they have worked in the country. This is important if you want to exercise your right to unemployment benefits from a Swedish unemployment benefit fund. The certificate in question is called an E103.
Processing time has been up to 20 weeks, writes Hillevi Engström in a comment in a Swedish newspaper:
"My Norwegian colleague, Minister of Labour Hanne Bjurström, was well aware of the problem and confirmed the aim is to cut the processing time to a more reasonable level of three to four weeks in time for summer! There is real reason to believe that we will see changes to the processing times. We will follow this development closely. It feels good that we have taken one large step closer to removing this border obstacle which has been there for many years, and this would allow Swedes who are entitled to unemployment benefits after working in Norway to get it and to get it within a reasonable time!"
