Good leadership is crucial for well-being at work thinks NIVA’s new director, Birgitta Forsström. NIVA now offers courses in health promoting leadership and diversity leadership in addition to more traditional themes. This is how she wants to create new Nordic arenas for training in the working environment area.

What are you reading?

‘When Finland was Sweden’, a book about Finland’s and Sweden’s history by Herman Lindqvist. As I have been given this job within the Nordic cooperation it is particularly important for me to know our Finland-Swedish history.

What was your dream job as a child?

A hotel director on a tropical island. I thought it would be nice to live in a beautiful house in a beautiful place. I could both work and live there.

Your favourite tool at work?

Conversations with people. Dialogue.

Your hidden talent?

I love ironing. Dresses and everything. It turns out so nice, I’m very good at ironing.
