One minute interview

What are you reading?

I am reading The Witch by Camilla Läckberg. I have read Swedish books exclusively the past two years, to help with my language skills. I have read many Swedish crime novels, so my vocabulary might be a bit skewed.

What is your favourite tool at work?

A whiteboard. I enjoy visualisations. I enjoy drawing while I try to explain things. There will be a sharp increase in the amount of visualisation at the Nordic Council of Ministers.

What did you want to become when you were little?

I wanted to be a doctor, but something happened so I took a different path. Studying law is an old dream of mine. I chose business school, but if I had my time again I would have chosen law. After 16 years in parliament, I do have quite a bit of experience from law-making, however.

What is your hidden talent?

Everyone in Finland knows my talents, I think. But I enjoy singing. When I was young I sang soprano, but now I sometimes sing in a band called Punatähdet, which means Red Star. The songs are humorous with political lyrics, and we have an interesting musical expression which I cannot quite define.
